Primavera Contu è un’autrice, formatrice e creativa basata in Italia.
Si laurea presso l’Università di Bologna, con una tesi in drammaturgia sul progetto Urban Spray Lexicon del collettivo artistico Ateliersi. Dopo anni di studio e pratica come attrice, si avvicina alla scrittura nel campo delle arti performative e al linguaggio della performance art, sviluppando un interesse crescente per ogni tipo di tecnica narrativa. Fondamentali, nella sua formazione, sono gli incontri di studio con la pedagoga Claudia Castellucci, il drammaturgo Fausto Paravidino e il regista Michael Marmarinos.
Dal suo debutto come autrice è stata invitata a molti festival come Fabbrica Europa, in qualità di autrice e ideatrice di progetti, e come parte del progetto AROUND_35, che mira a mostrare metodi di ricerca coreografica di giovani artisti della scena nazionale e internazionale attraverso workshop e presentazioni aperte. Ha condotto progetti formativi, di scrittura e scenici in Italia, Germania e USA.
Ha collaborato con musicisti, compagnie teatrali, collettivi artistici e centri per la creazione e produzione di arte contemporanea e performing art, come I Macelli-No Theatre, Teatro I, Roots&Routes International, Teatro Magro, Ateliersi. Partecipa con la sua idea Mezzi Vuoti a Bet on Utopia, un progetto multidisciplinare della compagnia Fagarazzi-Zuffellato company (Menzione Speciale a ‘ ArtVerona Independents 05’). È membro del direttivo de Il Vivaio del Malcantone, centro di ricerca e pratiche culturali basato a Firenze.
Nel 2015 ottiene in titolo di Peer Coach in Performing Arts. Al momento si sta specializzando in progetti formativi per adolescenti e giovani danzatori professionisti: la didattica sperimentale è diventata una parte essenziale della sua ricerca e pratica come dramaturg e autrice, focalizzata sull’auto-narrazione, le politiche del corpo, la sessualità, l’intersezionalità, e le tematiche che riguardano il queer, il genere e l’identità.
Nel 2017 viene invitata a presentare la sua performance interattiva Don’t Panic, BI PAN! al primo incontro del Queer Italia Network (QuIr) Queer(ing) Anglo/Italian Theories and Practices, presso l’Università di Verona. Da allora, il progetto è stato presentato presso diversi festival, come l’HPFF – Hacker Porn Film Festival, ed è stato invitato alla Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT, USA), supportato dal Programma di Studi Femministi, di Genere e Sessualità, dal dipartimento di Lingue Romanze e dall’ufficio per l’Equità e l’inclusione. Nello stesso anno, il suo nuovo progetto Personal Landscapes è parte del programma nazionale delle Residenze Artistiche in Italia, supportato dal MiBAC, dalla Regione Lombardia e dal Teatro Magro di Mantova.

Primavera Contu is a dramatist and creative based in Italy.
She graduated with a thesis in Dramaturgy, focused on the project Urban Spray Lexicon by the italian artistic collective Ateliersi, at the University of Bologna. After years of training and work experience as an actress, she approached writing in the field of performing arts and the language of performance art, developing an increasing interest for different kinds of narrative techniques. Fundamental in her artistic education is having met dramaturgy teacher Claudia Castellucci, historical co-founder of the company Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, playwright and director Fausto Paravidino and theatre director Michael Marmarinos.
Since her debut as an author, she’s been invited to many festivals, such as Fabbrica Europa, as an author, dramaturg and director, and, recently, as part of AROUND_35, a project that aims to show choreographic research methods of Italian and international young artists. She has conducted educational, writing, and staging projects in Italy, Germany and USA.
She’s collaborated with musicians, companies, collectives, and various centers for the creation and production of contemporary and performing arts, such as I Macelli-No Theatre, Teatro I, Roots&Routes International, Teatro Magro, Ateliersi. She participated with Mezzi Vuoti in Bet on Utopia, a multidisciplinary project by the Fagarazzi-Zuffellato company (Special Mention‘ ArtVerona Independents 05’). Further, she’s a member of the board of Il Vivaio del Malcantone, a center of research and cultural practice based in Florence.
In 2015 Primavera obtained the title of Peer Coach in Performing Arts. She’s now specializing in educational projects for teenagers and young professional dancers: teaching has become an essential part of her research and her practice as a dramaturg, focused on self-narration, body-positivity, intersectionality, queerness, gender and identity issues. In 2017, she’s been invited to present her new interactive performance Don’t Panic, BI PAN! to the first workshop of Queer Italia Network (QuIr) Queer(ing) Anglo/Italian Theories and Practices, at the University of Verona. The performance explores and examines sexual labels in general, encouraging all participants to reflect, critically and ironically, on their own sexual identities. Since then, the project’s been invited to many festivals and institution, and has been performed at the Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT), supported by The Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, and The Office for Equity and Inclusion. In the same year, she’s been part of the national program of Artistic Residencies (Italy), supported and promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, with the new project Personal Landscapes.
